Model United Nations is a great opportunity for students to develop strong leadership skills, public speaking, research and writing skills, conflict resolution, and cooperation. Students will meet new people from other schools, which allows them to network, build connections, and make new friends.

An important, key skill you learn while participating in MUN conferences is diplomacy, the art of negotiation which is a very useful skill to acquire. Students learn how to problem-solve as they are given real-life world issues discussed by the United Nations. Students will also become more knowledgeable about these world issues as they explore and research the topic given to them.

Participating in MUN conferences can greatly benefit students for when they go to apply to college. Students develop many traits while being involved in MUN that colleges look for in applicants. Discipline, confidence, and analytical thinking describe some of the traits students strengthen during their MUN involvement, oftentimes giving students a stronger advantage in being accepted to the institution.

"MUN is a great opportunity for students, in particular for IB students, to exercise and to grow in the IB profile attributes such as becoming open-minded, thinkers, inquirers and knowledgeable. MUN also aligns to what the IB intends to develop in students, which is respect towards different positions and perspectives in order to achieve world peace. The skills required in MUN of good communication, reflection and argumentation permits the students who are involved to express ideas and thoughts effectively and grounded on solid information. MUN is a valuable experience for students!"
